Parent’s FAQs

  • A Newborn Care Specialist provides professional newborn care and guidance for families adjusting to life postpartum. This includes establishing healthy sleep foundations, offering feeding support (bottle, breastfeeding, or mixed), and providing emotional support for new parents. Overnight support allows parents to get the restorative sleep they need while knowing their baby is being cared for safely and attentively. A Newborn Care Specialist also helps parents build confidence by offering education and real-time guidance, troubleshooting common concerns such as sleep challenges, feeding questions, or general newborn adjustments.

  • A Postpartum Doula is “the mom for the mom,” providing emotional, physical, and practical postpartum support to families during that period. Their role is to help new parents transition into life with their newborn by offering feeding assistance for mom, creating healthy sleep routines, and providing newborn care education. They also offer emotional support, help with light household tasks, and ensure new parents have the time needed to rest and recover. Postpartum Doulas tailor care to your family’s unique needs helping build confidence and balance during the postpartum period. Learn more about our doula services here.

  • Evidence-based care is grounded in the best available research and clinical expertise. We support families using information that is backed by credible studies and current standards in neonatal and maternal care.

Trauma-informed care is an approach that recognizes the widespread impact of trauma and prioritizes safety, trust, and empowerment. We provide care that is sensitive to past or current prenatal, birth, and/or postpartum trauma, helping families feel seen, heard, and supported without causing further harm.

  • While both Newborn Care Specialists (NCS) and Doulas provide invaluable support for families, their roles are different and often complementary.

A Newborn Care Specialist focuses exclusively on the care of your baby, offering expertise in establishing routines, healthy sleep habits, and feeding guidance (bottle, breastfeeding, or mixed). They provide hands-on, around-the-clock care for your newborn, allowing parents to rest and recover with peace of mind.

A Postpartum Doula offers a more holistic approach, supporting the entire family during the postpartum period. They provide emotional support, newborn care education, light household assistance, and help parents navigate the physical and emotional changes in the postpartum period.

Many families find that having both an NCS and a Doula provides the most comprehensive support—ensuring expert newborn care while also addressing the parents' overall well-being and recovery. Whether you choose one or both depends on your family’s specific needs, but together, they create a balanced and supportive foundation for the early weeks of parenthood. • No, a Postpartum Doula and a Lactation Consultant have distinct roles, though they often work together to support new parents.

A Lactation Consultant is a certified specialist with advanced training in breastfeeding. They are equipped to address more complex feeding challenges, such as ineffective latching, milk supply concerns, and specialized feeding plans. Lactation Consultants often provide solutions for medical or anatomical difficulties affecting breastfeeding.

If breastfeeding challenges require advanced care, a Postpartum Doula may recommend working with a Lactation Consultant while continuing to provide general postpartum support. Many families benefit from having both professionals on their postpartum team.

  • Absolutely! Both Postpartum Doulas and Newborn Care Specialists provide personalized feeding support, whether you’re breastfeeding, bottle feeding, or using a mixed approach. Postpartum Doulas can help troubleshoot latching issues, advise on pumping and storage, and develop feeding schedules to suit your family’s needs.

  • While a Postpartum Doula is not a medical professional, we provide emotional support in a safe, judgment-free space. At Precious Bundles Consulting, we take an evidence-based holistic approach to care, which includes offering nutrition support to promote hormonal balance, physical recovery, and overall well-being for both new parents.

By creating a nurturing environment and offering personalized postpartum guidance, we help ease the emotional and physical demands of the postpartum period. Additionally, we’re trained to recognize signs of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs).

  • At Precious Bundles Consulting, we specialize in sleep conditioning for newborns. It’s important to note that most infants are developmentally unable to undergo formal sleep training until after 16 weeks. While we wait for their sleep cycles to naturally mature, sleep conditioning focuses on creating a calm and consistent environment that lays the foundation for future healthy sleep habits. This gentle approach helps your baby—and you—get more restful and predictable sleep over time.

  • Absolutely! As a Newborn Care Specialist and Postpartum Doula, I support families welcoming twins, triplets, and higher-order multiples. I help establish feeding schedules, healthy sleep foundations, and daily routines that support each baby’s needs while also allowing parents time to rest and recover.

I also have NICU Doula training, which allows me to support families immediately after birth if one or more babies require a NICU stay. If the hospital allows, I can provide support to families in the NICU, or I can assist older siblings at home so parents can focus on their babies. I also understand how challenging it can be when NICU babies come home one at a time, and I help families navigate those transitions with additional care and guidance.

My experience also includes supporting the unique feeding challenges that NICU babies and parents may face. This includes helping mothers who wish to breastfeed multiples while managing pumping, bottle feeding, feeding tubs, unique GI issues, and establishing feeding routines as babies grow stronger. My goal is to help families feel supported, confident, and prepared throughout their NICU and newborn journey.
